The Payyambalam Beach is a popular beach located near the town of Kannur. It is Quiet, secluded, this beautiful stretch of sand and surf is the best locale for a relaxed evening. The Payyambalam beach is a popular picnic spot of the local people and holds much potential for development into a tourist resort.


This beach contains the mortal remains of several famous personalities like journalist Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai, A.K. Gopalan and the former Chief Minister of Kerala, E. K. Nayanar.


One of the prime attractions of this beach is a sculpture by the famous sculptor, Kanayi Kunjiraman, which portrays a mother and child.

Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach is a beach in the state of Kerala in southwestern India. This beach is the largest Drive-In Beach in Asia .The Muzhappilangad drive in Beach, located around 17 km away from Payyambalam, is considered as a swimmer's paradise. It is located parallel to National Highway 66 between Kannur and Thalassery.


It is the only drive-in beach in the entire Kerala region where tourists can drive up to a length of 4 km. The Green Island near this beach is frequently visited by tourists.


This beach across four kilometres of sand where one can drive down the entire length. The drive is ideal for sampling the famed Malabar cuisine from the many eateries in the immediate hinterland. Black rocks protect this long, clean beach from the currents of the deep, making its shallow waters a swimmer’s paradise.


Adventure sports like paragliding, parasailing and microlite flights are possible at the Muzhappilangad Beach in Thalassery. Other attractions include water sports, power boating or a simple catamaran ride.

The Meenkunnu beach is famous for its golden sands and surf. It is not a crowded beach. Tourists who visit the place will find it a paradise. The beach is in Kannur District.


The Meenkunnu Beach is located at Azhikode, few kilometres away from Kannur. This beach is considered as the extension of another famous beach of the region, the Payyambalam Beach.


Its more about the view from a height on a liitle cliff with the cool breeze than the sand soothing your feet. Evening time will be best if you are not so friendly with the hot sun.


Meenkunnu Beach is resting on a cliff face in a rustic surrounding on the Malabar Coast of Kerala at an altitude of … feet. It is 12 kms away from kannur town in the village of meenkunnu . It takes about 20-25 minutes to reach the beach from Kannur town. It’s a very scenic drive on the beach stretch from payyambalam , the last few kms to the beach is an off road adventure

Dharmadam Island is a main picnic spot situated 17 kms from Kannur, located in the Arabian sea at a distance of 100 meters from the shore. Sprawling over an area of 5 acres and surrounded by rivers and beaches, this beautiful island is covered with tall coconut palms and dense bushes.


The place, earlier known as Dharmapattanam, is also known by the names 'Dharmadam thuruth' or 'pacha thuruth' (green island). Dharmadam is believed to have been a Buddhist stronghold and Buddha images have been excavated from this place. Permission is required to enter this privately owned island.


It can be seen from the Muzhappilangad beach and during low tide, one can just walk to the island from the beach. There are frequent boats to the island from Kannur and Thalassery.
